Dandy-Walker Syndrome

Butters – a 2-year-old Ragdoll cat – was seen by Neurology for evaluation of seizures and altered mentation.  She was diagnosed with a congenital brain malformation disorder called Dandy-Walker Syndrome.  With this disease there is lack of formation of some parts of the brain and extra fluid accumulation (hydrocephalous).  We were able to adjust her medications for excellent seizure control and improved mentation.  Butters is now able to live a very normal and happy life with her family.  She recently got a little housemate Ragdoll to play with and they are great friends!  Also, Butter’s owner Tracy, would like to recognize the wonderful people at the Pet Apothecary as they have been so helpful with Butters’ medications!
