Jewel is a success story in more than one way. At the young age of five, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on her right hind leg. Osteosarcoma is an aggressive bone tumor that usually affects larger dogs and can quickly spread to other parts of the body. Dr. Reed performed Jewel’s amputation to completely excise the mass and she recovered beautifully. Soon after surgery she went through a full course of chemotherapy and she successfully completed her protocol in October 2017. Throughout her treatment, Jewel was a trooper and tolerated all of her doses well. She always had a big smile and a wagging tail when she came in for treatment. Today, we congratulate Jewel as she enjoys being cancer free!
