Tyson visited WVRC’s Oncology service for further evaluation of his recently diagnosed enlarged lymph nodes and abnormal white blood cells. In addition his appetite and energy had decreased markedly.

Dr. Custead thoroughly examined Tyson and ran diagnostics, which showed that Tyson had lymphoid cancer, either acute leukemia or stage 5 lymphoma. Both cancers are similar in that they originate from a mutation and proliferation of a type of white blood cell called a lymphocyte. The treatment of choice for Tyson was a multi-agent chemotherapy protocol.

Tyson has now completed his treatments and has Kicked Cancer’s Tail! He is now back to eating and playing like he had been, albeit a little slower sometimes. Way to go Tyson!
